Yard/Springs

Springs

Compression, extension, torsion.

Die springs and machine springs to drawing. Ends, wind, and free length are written before the press moves.

01 / TYPES

Three coils, one yard.

Wire from 0.3 mm to 16 mm. A near-fit from a catalog colour is not a fit.

YC-C

Compression

Open, closed, or ground ends. Machine springs and die springs sit here. Solid height and rate come off the sheet, not off memory.

YC-E

Extension

Machine hooks, crossover, and German hooks. Initial tension is a number we write. Loops formed on the same wire.

YC-T

Torsion

Single and double torsion. Legs bent to the angle on the drawing. Garage-door wind is marked left or right, not guessed from a photo.

Ends and set

The end is part of the spring.

Ground, closed, pigtail, or a hook that has to clear a pin. Set when the drawing asks. We do not leave the end for later.
